About Rabbi David Greenspoon
Shalom! I am excited to continue offering independent High Holy Day services in Reisterstown. If we haven't yet met since my return to Maryland, I have served congregations in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania since my ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary. I am blessed to offer my ideal version of independent, intimate High Holy Day services crafted to appeal to heart, soul, mind and spirit.
The prayer-words on the page of our books are the springboards for the prayer-words of our hearts. There are even a few signal moments in the service that are made more meaningful by stepping away from the formal prayers in the book for personal or contemporary reflections. One of the hallmarks of my work on the pulpit is to make services meaningful and accessible, without interrupting the spiritual sense of the moment. I am regularly gratified by the responses from congregants prompted by many of the introductions, explanations, and insights I have shared over the years. I especially appreciate Rabbi Dov Peretz Elkins regularly featuring my work in his annual editions ofMoments of Transcendence, as well as Rosh Hashanah Readings and Yom Kippur Readings. It was Rabbi Elkins who introduced me to the power of Guided Imagery early in my rabbinate. The Guided Imagery before Yizkor prayers on Yom Kippur is, for many if not most, one of the most tangibly holy moments of the entire High Holy Days. Pearls of Judaism’s ancient wisdom and expressions of deep truth from many different origins all find their voices in the course of services.
I look forward to the opportunity to wish you a joyous L'shanah Tovah--a good year--soon!
